KeymasterHi,
Thank you very much for the proper details, it helped us a lot.
The issue was, that the PDF file mime type was simply not entered on the index table options panel. I have selected it for you, and finished the indexing as well.
I have also enabled the index table engine on the search instance options, now you should be seeing the PDF attachments in the results list as well. For all the details of PDF search, you can check the PDF content indexing documentation.
I hope this helps!

ParticipantHi Ernest.
Thank you! Unfortunately, the PDF search does not seem to be working. I tried a number of tests, but the failed.
I set up a test search here: http://jjlaassociates.staging.wpengine.com/searchw-ajax/
I appreciate your help!

KeymasterHi,
I tried a few unique phrases I could quickly find in the documents:
– Phrase ‘xyzklmnp’ returns the test document: https://i.imgur.com/8l2PykU.png
– Phrase ‘pariatur’ returns the other test document: https://i.imgur.com/W0vqunW.png
– Phrase ‘accusamus’ returns another test document: https://i.imgur.com/k14H5GS.png
– Phrase ‘firefighters’ seems to work correctly as well: https://i.imgur.com/y6e9t06.pngIf you wish to disable other results, such as posts and pages, then make sure to de-select the posts/pages option on the General Options -> Sources panel: https://i.imgur.com/4thzCXS.png
If a document is not returned, with any keywords, it is either secured or password protected. Those types of documents are not possible to parse, they are only printable and viewable.

ParticipantHi Ernest,
If you click the results returned by the search you will see they are invalid (screen shot). I don’t know if that means they are not being indexed.
Thanks

KeymasterHi!
Oh, I see what you mean now. It is a link to the WordPress attachment page, but you can change that of course, under the General Options -> Attachments panel: https://i.imgur.com/QsKUz7Y.png
If you change that to ‘attachment file directly’, then it will link to the PDF files instead of the WordPress attachment page.

ParticipantGreat – thank you – worked great.
I’m very happy with the plugin, but have two additional issues I’m hoping you can help with:
1. I want to use ‘exact match’ search, but as I enabled it. I got the message shown in the screenshot. I do however, need to use the index table.
2. When a search is completed and a link selected, I would like the user to be able to once again view the results without doing another search. Or, if the search opened in a new window, it would accomplish the same thing.
Thanks so much!

KeymasterHi!
Thank you for your kind words!
1. Unfortunately it is impossible to use with the index table engine. Exact matching requires the whole text for matching, the index table however extracts the individual words. It would only work for posts and custom post types.
2. You can set the results to open in a new window here: https://i.imgur.com/xOhax2I.png
If you don’t want to use that, then there is also a feature, that memorizes the search when the user clicks on a result, then navigates back: https://i.imgur.com/VtTXhY1.png -
