    I have set a Minimal character count to 9
    If the person doesnt enter 9 characters I want a message to pop up saying “please enter a valid serial number”

    is that possible to do?

    Hi,

    Well, maybe with a small custom code, but I need to know the exact details.

    If the user does not enter 9 characters, and hits the magnifier icon/enter key, then the plugin should prevent that, and display an alert window with the text? Is that what you are looking for? It might be doable.
