ParticipantHi Ernest,
We are using Ajax search pro for over an year now for our webshop and i have some feedback/questions
1: when using a search the suggestion box displays different results then when hitting the enter button on keyboard. why and how to fix this.
(example 1 and example 2)2: the suggestion box opens after 3 seconds. the suggestion box is very usefull but alot of our costumers don’t even know it exist because the hit enter after typing. im aware of the fact that you can disable to hit enter the enter button (by activaiting do notting) but thats not very user friendly. best thing would if it populaites/opens directly after typing.
3: autocomplete google works fast autocomplete database/server slow. As a user you can’t click on the autocomplete. this would be very usefull

KeymasterHi,
2. I understand, but that would require an external service to run extremely fast search queries. Some plugins offer such features, but they usually have monthly subscription fees.
This plugins runs on your local server, and does not require any subscription fees ($100+/year), however the performance depends on your local server speed because of that. In your case I am seeing response times of about 1 seconds measured: https://i.imgur.com/0ip4q58.png
That is actually a really great response time. You can check out this documentation to see how you can maximize that.3. We are planning to add an optional “dropdown” of choices to start the search after that. It should give more of a google-like experience.

ParticipantHi ernest
thx for your response.
2.is it not possible that the suggestion box opends automatically after entering the searchbar. instead of waiting for a querie response. this way people automatically get triggered that something is happening before they hit enter. it would be an empty box with only on the top a little explanation that suggestions will appear after typing. this way only people who look at there keyboard while typing are missing it but they probably have the time.
3. thats nice. people that search on our website really search weird queries. for examnple “boeken van auteur willemijn de weerd” (english books of the author willemijn de weerd). while it would work for just willemijn de weerd. they are really spoiled by google.

Keymaster2. Actually, it is possible to display a loading bar in the box, right after the user stops typing: https://i.imgur.com/WQJFONg.png
It’s not the best, but it should do the trick.October 15, 2020 at 12:30 pm #29814skempenaar
