ParticipantHi
Sorry to bother you – I can see what a fully featured plugin this is but I’m wanting to use it for fairly simple purposes, yet I’ve hit a problem.I have at the moment two main categories for my posts (“Talks & Events” and “Bulletin”). I only wish to search in posts, NOT pages.
I also wish for the website visitor to choose if they want to search in both categories or just one via the checkboxes.I have attached screenshots on how I have set this up in the back end as I must be doing something wrong because when I do a search, it brings up any content on the site that matches, not just the selected category.
Please can you advise where I’m going wrong?
Many thanks

KeymasterHi,
Thank you for your kind words, and the details, it helps us a lot!
I believe you have two possible choices here:
1. To either change the logic, how the checkboxes are handled, right here: https://i.imgur.com/GP0QNia.png
2. and/or change this option: https://i.imgur.com/w5df3AL.pngI think I recommend both changes, it will prevent results showing up, which have no relation to the given taxonomy.

ParticipantHi Ernest
Wow – super quick reply, thanks!
I made both changes as recommended and saved all tabs. However, it’s not made any difference to the search results. Can you advise further please?
Thanks

KeymasterCan you please add temporary FTP and back-end access, and a link where we can take a look at the issue? Thank you!

KeymasterThank you very much! I think I may have found the issue and solution. I enabled this option: https://i.imgur.com/PkO33Pb.png
It changes how the search tries to interact with the theme, and it appears to be working now. I tried to search for “activity”, which should not yield any results (the live search looks okay), then after enabling that option the results page seems to be okay as well (not showing any results for that query anymore).November 16, 2020 at 11:12 am #30293Tiggia65
