We have a large index of BuddyPress Documents. I am using BuddyPress Document Tags, and searching inside PDFs. The index is about 49,000 keywords. Maybe it is maxxed out. I can hit on things like Maternity Leave, but not Pregnancy, even though that is a tag on the same document. I’ve rebuilt the index a few times, but some tags are simply not found. How can I troubleshoot this?

Without actually seeing this and testing it might be nearly impossible to tell. I am not familiar with those plugins so I can only assume things.
Let’s try a few questions first:
– Are these items stored as media attachments? I assume yes, just want to make sure.
– Are you getting the missing items as results for other keywords? Or they don’t appear at all?
– I am guessing the “Budyypress document tags” is adding a custom taxonomy for the documents. Is this taxonomy selected under the index table options?-BuddyPress Docs is itself a plugin for the main Buddypress Plugin. I do not believe that they are stored as Media attachments, but rather they have their own folder in the Uploads folder.
-Right now it appears that some of the tags are simply being ignored by the search. So they don’t appear at all.
-Correct, they are a custom taxonomy, and that taxonomy has been added.In that case those files are not possible to search whatsoever, only media files in the media library are searchable, nothing else. Custom uploaded files, which are not registered in the library are not possible to access.
Can you check if the missing files are present in the media library? If not, then that explains the issue.Ok, I was confused by a few similar taxonomy names. We need to index one called bp_docs_tag. It is not currently listed as an available taxonomy. What can we do do make it available to Search?
And now I finally see that the issue was not the taxonomy, it was that my form was not using the index! Got it. Closed.
