ParticipantHi,
I am desperate. Need help!
I purchased the search plugin in the hope it would be smooth sailing.
It was mostly fine, except for a major snag.
When a PDF file is in the search results (as it often will be), the results give a link for the actual page (Screenshot: Search result-pdf) . However, when you click the link it again takes you to a page which has a FURTHER link to the actual PDF (see screenshot:PDf Result post).
Basically, one has to drill down further. This is obviously a terrible and unexpected user experience.. My client is not ok with this.
The original link should directly open the PDF, in a new tab, in the browser. Can you help adjust this, or fix it?
Really need your urgent help.Thanks

ParticipantHi
Still continuing the same installation 🙂
(Previously I created custom filters for Pages but instead need for attachements)We want to have filters only for PDF attachments.
These will be Newsletter and Insights.
These filters should be check boxes. The heading for these filters is Articles and it should look like following:
Articles
— <Checkbox> News
— <CheckBox> InsightsI am not sure how Ajax pro will differentiate between ‘”News”PDFs and “Insights” PDFs.
Do we need to set up something on WP so ajax pro can recognize the different categories/ filters?
Can you please guide me on whether there is any WP plugin which would be appropriate here?
Thank you in advance.August 9, 2021 at 4:46 pm #34219Ernest Marcinko
KeymasterAttachments luckily can use custom taxonomies – that is what you are looking for.
Basically, you need to create a custom taxonomy, and configure it to work with attachments only. Usually the best way to do it is programmatically, this guide can help with that. For a simpler solution, this plugin could work, or maybe PODs, but I would avoid using bigger plugins like PODs (or even the smaller ones if possible), unless you need more of their features.
