ParticipantHello,
I need to find the word “oeil” for “œil” and the other way around.
Here is 2 examples wich are not working :
UN.6143 Embout à œil
UN.6917 Embout à oeilWhat I did so far :
– update the plugin
– create the synonyms : œil for oeil
– on the search general which is on the home page, select the search engine “index table engine”
– create a simpler synonym : chat for embout – just for test
– click on “create new index”None of my tests are ok. Can you help me find the issue ? Thank you

KeymasterHi,
Sure!
I tried to log-in but the details seem to be incorrect.
I have a guess though, can you try to eanble the
Use synonyms as keywordsfeature and then recreate the index: https://i.imgur.com/5ed69cp.png
After recreating the index should work.June 28, 2023 at 3:49 pm #44496Le majordome du net
ParticipantSorry ! You can log in now.
Enabling the “Use synonyms as keywords” makes “chat” works but not “oeil”
I am afraid it’s because it’s a caracters specific…

KeymasterThank you, unfortunately I still can’t login with the details: https://i.imgur.com/Jz4ngg3.png
I may know what the issue is now, but I might have to rectify.
Can you please also add temporary FTP details? I will very likely have to make a minor change to the plugin to test a possible solution.June 29, 2023 at 4:04 pm #44513Le majordome du net
ParticipantYou cannot access this content.

KeymasterThank you!
I made the changes via FTP. I could not test as the site requested .htpassword and the username/password combo didn’t work for it.
Anyways only one step is left, can you please re-create the index on test site? If all goes right, now every character should be converted from “œ” to “oe” format after indexing. If it works, then you can safely push the plugin folder to production.

KeymasterIt was 3 different files where I had to add a new function and an exception for this specific character combination.
I have already implmented this change via the issue tracker so the upcoming release will include it too 🙂

KeymasterIt’s all right 🙂 This is more a database “feature”, I had to google a lot to find what exactly is happening. Luckily it is very specific, only a few exceptions exist.
If you don’t mind, I will close this topic soon and mark it as resolved, feel free to open another one if you have other questions or issues.
If you like the plugin and have not rated already, feel free to leave a rating on your codecanyon downloads page and on the wordpress plugin repository, it’s greatly appreciated.
