We use Ajax search pro loaded by a shortcode in our template.
When we translate the placeholder text the text on the page itself remains the same

    Hi,

Thank you very much for the details.

I checked the source code, but the translation is applied, so this may indicate a conflic of some sort.
Can you please try clearing all layers of cache to make sure it’s not related to that?

    Hi,
Thank you for the fast reply,

Cache has been cleared a few times since we’ve been struggling with this issue.
The same issue also occurs on different servers (localhost, acceptance environment and production) with different browsers.

    Okay!

I tried to replicate withou any luck. Can you add temporary FTP and back-end access to the website? I will have to debug the code directly to see what conflict is preventing the translation to appear.

    Thank you!

I tried to access the url, but I’m getting a response error: https://i.imgur.com/6NUBIdW.png
I might be still blocked from access. Can you please check?

Luckily my public IP address will not change for a while.

Perfect, thank you very much, this all worked. Tried filezilla and other clients as well with no avail, but the updated WinSCP was able to log in.

So aftrer some painstaking testing I found that this is actually a bug in WPML intself. I follwed the instructions in this guide and get it working.
If by any chance you encounter the same issue, just make sure to delete the translation, now that the automatic discover is enabled, it should resolve the problem.

Thank you so much for all the effort !!

I’ve also tried this on the live website, but over there enabling the automatic discover makes the website so slow it results in 504 gateway timeouts, so we’ll have to look at that further with the server administrator.

I’ll sign a ticket to WPML that this bug isn’t resolved yet/anymore (since it says it should’ve been resolved a few versions back)
