After updating from 4.26.15 to 4.2.6.16, editing a CPT sometimes returns the wrong content in the body of the editing window.

Bizarre, I know, but returning to the old version of the plugin 100% fixes the issue.

For example, if I click on the following link from the Knowledge Hub > All Steps admin screen
    /wp-admin/post.php?post=48383&action=edit

it should be a post titled “Understanding the top drivers of engagement at work”

but instead the content returned is for:

What does resilience look like in the workplace?
    /wp-admin/post.php?post=48335&action=edit

The meta title of the editing page matches the original page, but everything else is the content from the wrong page.

It doesn’t happen for all posts, but it’s definitely connected to the upgrade.

Let me know what you figure out!

    Hi,

This took me a while, but I found the issue. So apparently it has something to do with shortcodes and timing of the index, but I don’t exactly know what the underlying cause is.

Luckily the solution is super simple, I just turned off this option under the index table settings. It caused many issues before, I suspect that during the editor “opening” process something happens with a custom field, which the plugin picks up as an “update” then somehow the IDs get mixed up under the hood in the WP core, but it’s only a guess.

I think I will put a massive warning sign on that option in the next update, it solves some issues on some installations, but causes a lot of problems in regular cases.

Thanks for tracking this down and solving it.

I’ve have made the changes on our live site and can confirm that it’s now working correctly.

    Much appreciated.

    Great!

Thank you for the confirmation, I will make sure this option has a proper warning in the upcoming release 🙂
