We have our Ajax Search Pro instance configured to search all “Products” on the site at this time. We normally want to exclude “Pages” and other post types.
However, I have now been asked if we can include only a select few “Pages” in the search results as well (but most will remain excluded). For example, we build out various trade show landing pages and it’d be nice if someone typing “NAFEM Show” into our products search bar could be given a result for our NAFEM Show Landing Page.
What is the simplest way to modify our search configuration to include only a select few pages?
I will continue to play around myself but I’m still learning where things are located in the plugin.

Well, this is a tough one. If you have not too many pages, and they don’t change very ofthen, then excluding the remainder manually by ID is the best bet.
However if the pages change ofthen and there is a lot of them, then perhaps consider creating a taxonomy and put the excluded pages there and exclude that.
If none of that works, then still you have exclusions by custom fields.
I would not use any type of inclusion rule here, because for the items to be included they all have to match the criteria – that also applies for all post types, including the products.
Thank you for all these possibilities. Great suggestions! At least helps me see I wasn’t missing something obvious. I will experiment with them and see which is the best for our setup. We can close this one now.
