    Dear Ajax Search Pro Team,

I’m currently using Ajax Search Pro on my WooCommerce store and I’m very happy with the functionality it provides. However, I’d like to ask about two features that I believe would enhance the user experience:

    1.Loading Indicator during Ajax Search
Is there a recommended way to display a custom loading spinner or message while the search results are still being fetched via AJAX?
I’d like users to clearly see that the search is in progress before the results appear. If this is already built-in, could you kindly point me to the relevant settings or hook?

2.Add to Cart Button in Search Results
Is it possible to add a “plus” button or direct “Add to Cart” button next to each product shown in the search results, allowing customers to add the product to their cart directly from the search dropdown or results box?
If this feature is not available by default, could you advise whether it’s achievable through customization or filters/actions?

Thank you for your great plugin and looking forward to your response!

    Best regards,

    Hi!

    1. Yes, by default it should be visible. You can make sure to enable it here, also make sure that the color of the loader is distinctive so it’s visible.

    2. Yes, that is also possible via the advanced content field. I recommend checking out this video tutorial, it explains a WooCommerce use case specifically.

    Hi Ernest,

Thank you for your helpful response! 🙏
I’ve successfully implemented the loading indicator

I have one last question —
Is there any recommended way to optimize or speed up the Ajax search process, especially for larger product catalogs?
Sometimes there’s a noticeable delay, and I’d like to make the loading feel faster or more responsive for users.

    Looking forward to your advice.

    Best regards

    You are very welcome 🙂

I recommend checking this documentation. Especially the index table engine, that can be a game changer when it comes to search speeds.

If you like the plugin and have not rated already, feel free to leave a rating on the wordpress plugin repository, it’s greatly appreciated and helps me tremendously.

    Hi Ernest,

I’m trying to achieve a specific behavior but can’t seem to find the right settings.

    What I want is:

    • When the user clicks the search bar on the navbar, the search input should expand (get longer) and overlay the homepage (ideally with a dimmed background or focus effect).
    • This would help users clearly focus on the search and make products more visible during search interaction, especially on desktop.

I believe this should be possible with the Compact Box Layout and overlay features, but after checking the documentation and plugin settings, I haven’t been able to configure it properly.

Could you please guide me step-by-step on how to set this up?

    Sure!

The overlay is only possible when the plugin is at a fixed position on the screen as the overlay needs to be above all elements and that’s technically not possible to do at the moment.

To have that exact layout, try the following settings: https://i.imgur.com/Vd1MgGa.png
This should give you a slide-out search bar to a fixed width.
