I am trying to create a search form that allows me to do the following:

    1. Have a search bar where I can type a phrase and the results will show.
    2. Filter these same results by selecting a category or a tag(s).

I would like the results to show up on the page in 4 columns (like this: https://nwhrn.wpenginepowered.com/advanced-search/)

There are so many settings, I just don’t know how to configure this. Can you tell me exactly how to create a new search / shortcode that is configured exactly this way?

    Hi,

    Sure!

I recommend starting off with this video tutorial. It has basically exactly what you want, the only difference is that it is demonstrated with Products, but that does not matter in this case.

Let me know if you have any specific questions after trying via the tutorial.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

My specific issue is as follows:

    https://nwhrn.wpenginepowered.com/search-results/

There are many posts that are in the courses category. i.e. if you search for “long term care”, then try to filter by the courses category, it returns nothing.
I can’t figure out which setting is causing this. Can you please take a look?

This is just one example. Other categories have the same issue.

    I am using Search 3.

    Thank you

    Hi,

    Sure!

It is probably due to the default checkbox logic, meaning that it excludes everything that is unchecked. You can adjusted that here: https://i.imgur.com/nTjNeNF.png
    That should resolve the issue.
