Hi Ernest, I recently switched from ordering search results by Title Ascending to use Relevance, as I prefer the ordering. But, this is having a strange effect on the number of results returned by live search. When using Title Ascending, the live search total will show the total number of results, which could be in the thousands. This is as desired.

Similarly when setting Search Sources > Ordering > Primary Ordering > Relevance, full search returns the correct number of results, or the max allowed by Search Sources > Limit > ‘on results page’. However, when using Primary Ordering > Relevance, live search now returns the total results count as either the value of ‘Post type (post, page, product..) results limit’, in my case 200, or ocassionally the number set in Layout Options > Search Box Layout > Results Count (40). Never the correct total number. Retrieving the full results, retrieves the correct number.

It looks like the live search total results field is picking up bad values when Relevence is selected. The relevance weights have been customised, which may have triggered this.

I also found that if I left a Relevance weight field empty ( blank) then live search returned NO results. Setting a value to 0 was OK. But a null value causes live search to fail.

    Hi,

Can you please add temporary FTP and back-end access details? I can’t seem to replicate the problem on my end. I suspect it might be related to a specific configuration. Thank you!

    Thank you very much!

The configuration seems to be all right, there is definitely a bug somewhere.

I tried to connect via FTP, but I’m only seeing an empty directory. Can you please check the permissions of the FTP account? Thank you!

Nevermind, I have found the issue in the meantime 🙂

I have installed a patched release for you, the counter should be all right now, even if the relevance is selected.
