All of our sites are saying Ajax Search Pro has been abandoned after a wordfence scan. I assume this is due to us adding that plugin fix provided? We added it to all our sites, so wanted to check if should we just add our old Ajax Search plugins from Code Canyon. And if so do we need to make sure they have the same previous purchase codes or are we good to just add any of them to each site? Just worried about us adding the wrong licensed Ajax search plugins to the wrong sites since we do have quite a few sites using this plugin.
Thank you ahead of time! 🙂
Wordfence scan results:
The Plugin “Ajax Search Pro” appears to be abandoned (updated October 1, 2020, tested to WP 5.5).
Type: Vulnerability ScanOctober 3, 2022 at 3:04 pm #39482Hi,
I have absolutely no clue where WordFence gets this information unfortunately. I guess it can’t access a file date or fetches it incorrectly?
There is no such thing as “last updated” date for commercial plugins, so I can’t set that explicitly.First thing to try is to download the plugin from codecanyon and reinstall it again (Download -> Deactivate via plugin manager -> Delete via plugin Manager -> Upload & Install via plugin manager). That may refresh the files to the correct date.
Best,
Deactivating and deleting will not remove any of the plugin data, so everything will stay as it was before.

Thank you again!October 3, 2022 at 4:10 pm #39484You cannot access this content.October 4, 2022 at 8:46 am #39492I would like to take a closer look at this – but it is definitely not an issue at all, since the plugin is actually not abandoned.
Can you please allow temporary FTP and back-end access? I would like to check the plugin code, where the update information is fetched, maybe there is something I can do about it.
Best,

I may have found the issue. So the issue was caused by a piece of code in our plugin, which prevents executing the Remote Version Controller during ajax requests. It is used to protect server resources. In that case it falls back to old default values.
Best,
I corrected the controller script to use the cached or actual values instead. I re-scanned with WordFence to validate, and the issue seems to have been fixed, it no longer shows up.

Is there anything else we could add on our end for the rest of our sites that use AJAX Search Pro, or will this be pushed via an update?Thank you again!
October 5, 2022 at 3:06 pm #39520This will be pushed via an update next week, you don’t need to worry about it 🙂
