I want to know if its at all possible to get the search bar to appear on the archive pages on my WordPress site, just like you see when browsing to the home page?

Ernest, I’d rather not edit the theme files directly but happy to do edits to the child theme of course.
Let me know if you can get it sorted or I’ll have to make another plan.

    Hi,

It depends on the theme you are using, mostly. If it offers a widget position there, then that’s probably the easiest solution. I see you use visual composer there, but I’m not sure if that allows editing the archive page templates.

Otherwise it’s very likely that it’s not possible without editing the theme files directly. You can either ask the theme author, or if you want I can check that for you. In that case, I will need temporary FTP and log-in details, as I will have to look at the theme files directly. You can provide that by editing your initial post.

    Hi Ernest,

You may have missed the fact that I updated my FTP and admin details above for you to take a look at.

I was thinking of creating an archive page in my child theme and then inserting PHP to show the search where I’d like it.
I’m not a PHP expert so would get some help with this.

Kindly let me now if there is any way to help me achieve what I’m trying to do.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for the details, I did not get notified about the post update for some reason.

Okay, so I’ve made an archive.php file in your child theme directory, where I placed a small custom HTML and CSS snippet containing the search bar, similarly positioned and styled as on the other pages. Now you should see the search bar on the archive pages as well.

Please note that since this qualifies as a customization request, which is not part of the support process, I can’t guarantee that is solution is the best or if it will work for all cases.

    I hope this helps!

    Ernest,
Thanks so much for doing this customisation.
I realise that this goes above and beyond usual support.
    I’m so impressed!
