Best practice/performance
Both 1) and 2) are good, usually people prefer 2), as they expect redirection after hitting the return button. The performance should be almost exactly the same.

After the redirection, the layout is printed by the theme, the plugin has no control over it. The only way is to edit the corresponding theme file (usually search.php) to change the image position.

Hi,

I believe the Cloudflare cache query string ignorations only affect assets that are loaded within the page, not the page url. So when a script/image/CSS file is loaded with a query string, then serving that asset the query sting is ignored.

I think this depends more on the page cache you have on the site.

There was no change in that area, the issue is, that excluding category results (not post resulty by categories) you need this option: https://i.imgur.com/abZtvro.png

That will do the trick.
