Child Category Still Shows After Parent Filter Unchecked

I have a nested category Asia->Philippines

However, I prefer to only show the parent categories on the filter to reduce clutter

If the user unchecks the parent category, shouldn’t the child also not show

Here the parent category “Asia” is checked and the posts under the child “Philippines” is showing

Here I have unchecked the category “Asia”, but the child posts are still showing

Is there a way for the child posts to not be shown without adding the child category in the filter?

Hi,

It should be excluded.

Are those items actually within the “Asia” category as well? Or only in the “Philippinies”?
If they are not assigned the “Asia” category, then they will not be excluded – as there is no direct connection bewteen the item and the parent category.
