Hi,
We’ve bought AJAX Search Pro from you guys and now when I’m trying to configure which custom fields that should be searched in i can’t find the configuration option that you refers to here: https://documentation.ajaxsearchpro.com/general-settings/search-in-custom-fields
Could you clarify how i can select which fields to search within?September 16, 2020 at 9:01 am #29390Hi,
Sure!
Make sure to follow these steps:
Best,
– Open up your site back-end, and go to the Ajax Search Pro submenu: https://i.imgur.com/0SKgiUX.png
– Open up your search instance options: https://i.imgur.com/NxEKLL8.png
– Then go to the General Options -> Sources panel (opened by default) and scrol down: https://i.imgur.com/AKBP3GI.png
There you should see the option, which I highlighted.

September 16, 2020 at 10:29 am #29391Thank you Ernest! That works 🙂
I have another question for you. We got a multisite setup and want the settings for our ajax search to sync between all sites (but not the index table.)
It seem that it isn’t syncing the settings (even though you support multisite). Is there any way we can achieve that?
September 16, 2020 at 12:43 pm #29394I’m afraid probably no. We were already thinking of somehow making the options global/local, perhaps by adding a switch of some sort (?), but the for now they stayed separate for each site. Most multisite users preferd it that way, so we sticked with the current option. We will defintiely look into a possible solution – perhaps by programatically adding a constant, or using a hook of some sort to give multisite users control over the options “globalness”.
Best,

September 16, 2020 at 1:27 pm #29397Ok, I see. Maybe you could help with something else:
We’ve got a general search form which is being used on all our sites but when creating a index table on main site, the index for secondary site in multisite network disappears and the other way around if we create a index table for secondary site. How could we get separate index tables for each site?
September 16, 2020 at 1:36 pm #29398Oh, the index table options should be global at this point, I will have to look into this.
Best,
Basically, it is only a visual bug – there is only one index table across all the network, it can store the posts/post type data from all of the sites. All you need to do is to configure and create it on the main site, and that’s it. Even though it is not showing across the other sites, it is still generated including every site. Just make sure this option is checked: https://i.imgur.com/7aczGn8.png

September 16, 2020 at 2:39 pm #29400Ok, what we’re trying to achieve is to group different sites in different indexes. Sites 1, 2 and 3 have a shared index, but sites 4, 5 and 6 have a shared (but different) index. Is this possible?
Is it also possible to just have one search index per network site, that’s not shared between multisites at all?
September 17, 2020 at 8:55 am #29408No, there is one index table only – but it should not be an issue. You can index all the content you need, and on all of the search instances, you can choose which site contents you want to search for. For example, you can choose site 1,2,3 in a single search bar, and 4,5,6 on a different one, if that is what you are looking for.
Best,
Ernest Marcinko

September 17, 2020 at 9:55 am #29412So what you’re saying is that the index is for all sites (including posts, custom posts, pages, products, custom fields i.e.) in the network and each search instance (is the search instance the same as a search form?) can limit what sites to search in? Is that correct?
We can’t get your instructions to work since there are no sites available in that box (see attached screenshots). What could be wrong? We have created this search form/instance on our main site in the network and also the index.
Also if we search on main site we get all results from main site, on the other hand if we go to “site 2”, “site 3” or any other site in our network we get results from our main site but not from any other site. We are getting search suggestions on “site 2”, “site 3” and other sites than main site, but if click on that there are empty results. What could be wrong?Attachments:

September 17, 2020 at 10:14 am #29418Hah, that was it! I have created another super user and was logged in as that. It seems there is some difference between the first super user and other users that I create with the same privileges. Maybe they need to be added as admins for each site manually?
Anyway, thanks for your help so far. I’ll be back with more questions surely 🙂
