ParticipantHi have setup your ajax search on upcoming website. Looked over recommended settings which match up with what we had.
Only difference being that we had products before blog and pages. When the site is viewed in desktop mode and we search for say term “anbernic” it returns product based results only.
When doing same on mobile or smaller browser window to reflect mobile it shows only blog posts. This has me stumped as its only one index.
I do see on mobile it opens a different search box, could you please help me understand how this happens and what the fix is?
Ideally would like it to have product then blog search results shown.
Thanks

KeymasterHi,
Thank you very much for the details, it helps a lot!
The issue is, that on the desktop version the built-in theme live search box is visible – which acts on it’s own – and on the mobile it’s the Ajax Search Pro search input giving it’s own configured results. So they are basically two different searches.
You can actually keep it this way, but make sure to configure Ajax Search Pro so that it returns the post types you want (I suspect Products only).

ParticipantThanks.
When you refer to “live search box” I believe that it’s still running Ajax pro search as before installing your plugin we had no predictive search whatsoever.
Also I must be doing something wrong as removed the two other content types leaving product only and now search returns nothing on mobile for “Anbernic”. Attached is config settings.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks! as still trying to get my head around this.

KeymasterOkay, that looks right.
I see you have the index table engine selected – that could explain the issue.
If the products are not indexed, then it will still yield no results. Basically there is a single index, and you can create as many different search instances as you need. Each of them can be configured differently, so in the index you can have many many different post types, while separate search bars can be set to search only a subset of them.
Can you please make sure that the products are also indexed: https://i.imgur.com/sHCN1mG.png
That will very likely solve the issue.May 16, 2024 at 2:35 pm #48180electro
ParticipantHi, yes i had indexed it after updating and waited for it to finish but was the same even though had products moved across.
I’ve now changed to regular engine and both mobile and desktop show product.
Was hoping to use index table and have different search for products, blog etc. but if this works then it will have to do.
Thanks 🙂

KeymasterOkay!
If you want, you can add temporary back-end details and I will check the configuration for you. The index table should work, so it might be only a minor misconfig somewhere.
