    Hi!

I have two questions regarding the search function.

    Multisite search:
After setting up a multisite search using ALL sites in the network and creating the search form, most sites show the same search result for one specific search term. But, on some sites in the network the search results differ. Please search for the string “cdu” on the following sites using the RIGHT search form (“Suche im gesamten…”) in the header:
    http://neckar-netzwerk.com/jobs – shows 1 search result
    http://neckar-netzwerk.com/horb-anzeigenmarkt – shows 5 search results

    Single site search:
When e.g. searching for “feiern” on the page http://neckar-netzwerk.com/horb-anzeigenmarkt using the LEFT search form (“Suche in diesem Bereich…”) in the header, the results page shows 2 results. The dropdown-resluts are empty (you might need to activate the “search while typing”-function). Did I use the wrong settings?

You can find the settings for the multisite search in the search “Globale Suche”. The site based search is “Lokale Suche”. I have added you as admin for two sites in the network, which should be sufficient to test.

    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards /Andreas

    Hi Andreas!

Thank you for the descriptive ticket and the login information, this kind of tickets I like the most.

There is definitely a problem in both situations (ethier configuration or some bug). I might not have time today to do a deep debugging and I don’t want to mess up the code and leave it there. If you are not in a rush I would rather deal with this tomorrow morning, I’m suspecting it will take some time, but I’m sure it is fixable. I hope that’s ok for you.

Feel free to experiment with the search settings till then, and also here is a faq page, where you can find some information regarding other thing, if you are interested: http://wp-dreams.com/faqs/

    Hi!

I have managed to find the bug hiding in the code. It was something wrong with the relevance query which messed up the results. Now you should see more results, more relevant results, but the same results for each global search. I’m adding this fix to the upcoming version as well.

As for the local search, the “search while typing” function was disabled, while the magnifier redirected to the default search page, thus it was only a bad configuration. It should also show the results while typing.

I hope it’s working now as you imagined!

    Hi again!

Thanks! Unfortunately the searches described under #1 above still show a different amount of results (14 and 16). More results indeed, but still different.

Regarding search #2 above: I want to deactivate the redirection to the search results page, but “search while typing” does not show sufficient results. Therefore the redirection was active. Please try searching for “feiern” on http://neckar-netzwerk.com/horb-anzeigenmarkt – you will see that the Ajax search won’t show any results at all (but it should, see the search results page).

    Kind regards
    Andreas

    You were right!

The problem was that it still tried to filter the results by “phantom” categories and that’s different for every site. Now that I have modified that code part it should show exatly the same results for each site.

This was also the problem with the local search, so I was lucky to fix both issues. I have tried several phrases to test it, and it was succesful.

Please note that the default wordpress search results (when clicking the magnifier) may and will differ in some cases, because Ajax Search pro plugin cannot affect those results. (it probably will in the future) They should be similar though.
