ParticipantHi, we just purchased for our site which runs on PeepSo. We are trying to allow users to search by members, friends, groups, and blog posts. How would we go about enabling this for our peepso site?

KeymasterHi!
All the currently supported peepso related features can be found under the General Options -> Peepso panel.
PeepSo uses by default the WordPress users database as well, so you can enable the user search as well.
I am not sure how the blog posts are stored, but I assume it might be a post type of some sort, so the search within custom post types feature might be the way to go.November 8, 2019 at 12:16 am #24567spiritedsmoke56
Participantok thanks for the help. i am running into problems with the user search. when searching for users, it appears that the search bar is searching by user’s usernames only. We don’t want to search by username at all and only by first name and last name. We have a field for first name and last name that users fill out when they register for the site. How can we set the search bar to search by user’s first and last name as it is displayed on our site, but not search by wordpress username?

KeymasterHi,
You can change that under the user search panel, by default all possible fields are searched. You can disable the login and display name search if needed: https://i.imgur.com/jLITLXk.png
I recommend experimenting with the options a bit, to get the preferred results.November 8, 2019 at 5:55 pm #24591spiritedsmoke56
ParticipantThe problem that we are running into is that on the site, user’s WordPress usernames are not displayed anywhere. Everyone’s displayed name on our PeepSo site is their First and Last name. However, when you search for a user in the search bar, the results show WordPress usernames, not first name last name. For example, my name appears as Clark Thornton on our site. When you search for “clark” or “clark thornton” in the search bar, the option that is returned is “cthornton582” which is my WordPress username. So the search bar properly found my account, but displays wordpress username instead of my name as it appears on the site (I attached a screenshot of this). So in search results, I want a user to display as “first name last name” instead of “wordpress username”. What would I need to do to make this happen?

KeymasterHi,
Make sure that the name field is set to the display name: https://i.imgur.com/zL2zsyl.png
If the display name is set the same way on the wordpress back-end, it should do the trick. If that does not work, then you can still use the {first_name} and {last_name} custom field variables in the advanced title field, like so: https://i.imgur.com/OMgYhVH.png
