    Hi guys

We are using a multisite with sub domains ( name.website.com) and need the search bar to pull through posts from other multisites.

Right now it IS finding test data on pages, but not posts.
But, our key search data requirement is on pots not pages.

Is there a fix for this or something you could help us with?

    Hi!

    A few questions first:

    • Are there any categories excluded?
    • Are there any category filters selected on the frontend?
    • Are there any other filters, like custom field or taxonomy visible?
    • Is there anything else excluded in the configuration?
    • Are the posts statuses published?

Excluding things along multisite is usually not a good idea, because terms unfortunately are not shared along multisite installs, thus have different id’s. So two posts on separate multisites under the same category name are not actually under the same category and are not possible to filter because of that. Same goes for custom fields, taxonomies etc.. I’m hoping version 5 of wordpress will provide an interface for this.

    Best,

Hi Ernest, thanks for the reply.
    This from my dev guys;

Are there any categories excluded? no
Are there any category filters selected on the frontend? no
Are there any other filters, like custom field or taxonomy visible? no
Is there anything else excluded in the configuration? no
Are the posts statuses published? yes

It is a completely fresh install without anything excluded. The only thing that has been setup are searches. When doing a search the search bar finds the term in multisite pages, but not the posts.

We are trying to use subdomains with the idea that people will be able to search on any multisite site and pull through search results from all of the sites all the time.

Our multisite setup is as site.domain.com not domain.com/site .

    Cheers, Jamie

In that case I think I need temporary admin and ftp access to do some debugging, because I think there is something else interfeering.

The default search setup should work regardless the multisite setup. (subdir or subdomain)
