    hi,
after installing and activating the plugin i added the search widget in the footer (you can see that at the home page of the website.
searched a string (that i already know exists) and the search box keeps on searching..without returning any results.
so i need help with the following:
    1) search box is not working at present
    2) how can i have search dropdown filter to have ‘search in comments’ checked by default
    3) how can i style the box? please help me point to some place if this has been already asked
    4) is this going to search in woocommerce products?

    thanks for your help.
    regards,
    dave

    Hi,

    1. I have actually found a yet unknown bug, which was caused by a malfunction of the PHP version your are using. I have corrected it for you via the FTP details. I’m going to update the plugin soon, and I’m also implementing this fix, so it will not happen again.

    2. If you have the Search in Comments option enabled on the General Options -> Sources panel, it will be checked automatically: https://i.imgur.com/Abnd14i.png

    3. On the Theme Options panel there are lot’s of tabs and options you can use to change almost anything you need: https://i.imgur.com/RHHxGZP.png

    4. Yes, you can define to search WooCommerce products by selecting the “product” custom post type on the General Options -> Sources panel: https://i.imgur.com/hY5aPn0.png

    hi ernest,

really thanks for your very fast help..especially on sunday.
i have few more questions. please reply whenever you have time.

    1) i have enabled ‘Highlight search text in results’ and it highlights the text as per se. but i need the text highlighted even when the page/post containing the text open as a result of clicking the result.
i have installed a plugin named ‘Highlight Search Terms’ and it highlights not only the text in result set but also when somebody clicks one of the links in the results set and it opens a new page. you can try this using the original theme search box at the top. can we do it like that in ASP?

    2) can you please let me know how to disable ‘did you mean’ when no results are found. i just don’t want to display anything.

    3) is it possible for you to replace my theme search box ‘in place’ with ajax search pro box? i mean in the same place where the current theme search box is?

    really thanks!!

    Hi Dave,

    1. Unfortunately the highlight only works within the ajax results list. The problem is that after clicking on the result link, it is not possible to tell if it comes from the search plugin, or from another part of the website – therefore if it was possible, it would still highlight everything regardless if it came from the search plugin or not.

    2. Yes. On the Layout Options -> Results Behavior panel: https://i.imgur.com/6NfsxzJ.png

    3. Yes, it can be without changing the theme code if your theme supports it. On the Ajax Search Pro menu you can choose which instance you want to replace the default search: https://i.imgur.com/NGjlXWe.png

    HI Ernetst,

thanks. i have few other issues that need your help:

    1) please refer to java error.png. a) go to the chinese version (after logging in). b) click on the profile name 3) click on ‘edit profile’ box (displayed in chinese there. that will cause jquery.ajax error. this was not happening before i installed the plugin so if i deactive ajax search pro that error goes away. it does not happen in english version of the website. can you please help check.

    2) still staying in that chinese version above if i type a keyword in ASPro search box the search keeps on going and does not return anything. This does not happen in English version. In Chinese version you can try 恭喜. this keyword exists in the chinese version of ‘hello world’ post (http://cricket.tw/hello-world/?lang=zh-hant).

    3) i remember the chinese version search popped a result once (yesterday) and the search keyword was not highlighted in the result.

    4) in the dropdown list of options on the left of the search box how can i add ‘Search in products’ or ‘Filter by products’

    thanks for your help!!

    regards,
    dave

    hi ernest,

    thanks.

    few things:

    1) https://cricket.tw/1.png
the did you mean solution that you suggested only removed the text ‘did you mean’ but i meant to not show any suggestions coming as a result of ‘did you mean’. please refer to the above image.

    2) http://cricket.tw/2.png
in chinese language version i have this in one of the posts “恭喜發財“.
when i am in the chinese version of the site if i type just 恭喜 it does not result anything (please refer 2.png) unless i press spacebar. is it possible to not have to press spacebar since it’s ajax it should be natural. user may think that there is no result if they do not press spacebar. (this problem is only related to chinese text – doube byte chars).

    3) “3. You are right. The problem is that you have the “Highlight whole words only” option enabled, but in chinese (or similar) languages there are no word boundaries that the script can regognize. If you turn that option off, it may work:”
=> if i turn off this option then it will highlight so many things that may confuse the user.
‘search everything’ and ‘highlight search’ plugins work ok in that area. can you please try something in future for this.

    thanks
    dave

    Hi!

    1. I thought you only wanted to remove the text 🙂 You can turn off keyword suggestions entirely on the Autocomplete & Keywords suggestions -> Keyword suggestions panel: https://i.imgur.com/j0utqKp.png

    2. I guess that’s because it counts as 2 (multibyte) characters in javascript. Try lowering the Minimal character count to 0 or 1 to trigger the search: https://i.imgur.com/zd8g9c8.png

    3. Will definitely improve that in the future.
