I started noticing in GTMetrix that sometimes the home page would show with the search box not doing the right thing. It would show up as the default box with a Search button next to it.

I’m now getting e-mails from readers asking why our search box is so bad and when when write back, they clarify that they too are seeing the non-Ajax’ed search box. I can replicate this by simply logging off my own site.

What am I doing wrong? We do have caching on the site for images (maxCDN) and the site, CloudFlare, as well as W3TC.

We tried the following in CSS to fix it and, so far it seems to impact it:

display: none on the search-form class.

Would that sound like it ties into the issue we’re seeing?

    Thanks.

    Hi!

I can see the old search form HTML code in the header. You either remove it from the code, or use that custom CSS code of display: none – both solutions will work.
That seems like is/was causing the issue.
