My website uses a lot of posts with a custom post type called product. Each post has a lot of custom fields / metaboxes in it. The search is not crawling any of these fields. Here’s an example:
    http://dev.mothic.com/medallion/product/snowmobiles/.

Each text item on this page is a custom field on the product custom post.

The plugin does not seem to be crawling any of the interior text. Even if I add custom fields included in the settings.

Is there something I’m missing? How do I get it to search custom fields in a custom post?

    Hi!

I can’t see the search anywhere on that page, could you please link me to a page where the search is active?

Also, could you please edit your initial post and add temporary admin and ftp details? I would like to do some debugging with the plugin to see if this is a bug or something else.

Which search phrases do not work? Could you please tell a few, and possibly some of the expected results? I will try those then.

    Greetings,

I added ftp and wp login info to the original post.

Here is a test page for the search:
    http://dev.mothic.com/medallion/ajax-search-test/.

I use the search phrase ‘Gauge’ for instance because that is on the Snowmobile product custom post. (http://dev.mothic.com/medallion/product/snowmobiles/)

So to summarize: Gauge is in a custom field on a custom post type. It seems to me that the plugin does not seem to crawl custom fields in custom posts.

    Hi again!

The problem was that no custom fields were actually selected to search on the general options page, so I examined a product and added a few related custom fields to search: https://i.imgur.com/3hVdeR9.png

Also I see you use a custom field as well to store images, so I changed the image settings according to that. The post content field is empty for this custom post type, so I chaned the description field to the “prod_featured_text”: https://i.imgur.com/kfYMjQI.png

This way both images and a proper description will show 😉

    Hi Ernest,

Thanks so much! I know that’s above and beyond what normal support is, so I appreciate that a lot.

What’s odd is I swear I did this stuff before on a previous demo page but I could never get them to pull.

One last question. I recall in the old version of the plugin you used to have an off canvas style sidebar layout that popped out of the right side of the screen. Was I imagining this or does this layout still exist? Any way to find it again? Thank you!
