ParticipantHello Ernest,
I really need your help on a couple of issues.
I have the ASP search results set to auto-load when the home page loads and haven’t been able to figure out how to prevent the search results from disappearing when the mouse is clicked off the search results area. Can you please help me to retain the search results on the home page if one should click off them? You can see what I mean by visiting the site’s URL above and clicking off the search results area.
Also, I haven’t been able to sort the elements of my custom content type (property) by their custom field _date_sold (please see attachment) which is a date composed entirely of integers; e.g, 20190315 is today. These are the properties shown under the Recently Sold header on https://chasebrothersland.com
I tested the built in Date descending and Date ascending ASP settings on the General Options > Ordering page and they had no effect on the ordering of my custom content type (the properties) either. The properties are ordered on the home page by WordPress Date Published in descending order (latest to earliest) regardless of whether Date descending or Date ascending is selected. Nevertheless, it is important that this group of properties (Recently Sold) are ordered by my custom field, _date_sold.
Thank you for your support,
Don-

KeymasterHi Don,
Under the Layout options -> Results behavior panel, you can turn off the feature, that closes the results on losing focust/document click, here: https://i.imgur.com/dcwoubD.png
To fix the ordering, simply change the custom field type from the default ‘numeric’ to ‘string or date’ under the ordering options, here: https://i.imgur.com/hYUkdxA.png
That will do the trick.I hope this helps!

ParticipantI’m sorry Ernest, but I struck out on both counts.
Perhaps we should deal with one issue at a time. If you go to the site here:
https://chasebrothersland.com/status/sold/
You will see how the properties (custom post type) are ordered by my _date_sold meta_key. My intent was to do this on the home page as well, but in a different format. Please see the Recently Sold section on the home page:
https://chasebrothersland.com/ (please ignore the popup directing traffic to the customer’s current production site)
Thanks,

KeymasterHi Don,
Okay, I see the layout now. First, I would suggest the following auto-populate configuration: https://i.imgur.com/zFkYTgE.png
This way the auto-populate ordering will follow the general ordering, and should resolve the issue.March 19, 2019 at 3:24 pm #21701donlange
ParticipantErnest,
This is awesome… it looks like it’s all fixed. I was working on the wrong search instance (I have three on the home page alone) but I think it’s working as expected now.
Thank you so much!

ParticipantYes, it appears to be resolved. Sorry about all the edits to the above post but I’m fumbling around a bit because I’ve been up all night.

KeymasterNo problem Don, don’t worry about it 🙂
