search results not resetting

i have a search box which live loads results and works fine.
If you change your mind and “backspace” the result then the live results go back to the correct state of showing random results.
However, when you type in a search and change your mind and click the “x” the results section goes blank instead of going back to the normal state of showing random posts… Images attached.
