Search results URL is wrong

Hello,

I just installed your plugin (looks great). I have set up a search bar for the user directory. It seems to work fine as in it brings up the right results. However when you click on any of the items in the search results it goes to the wrong page. It should go (in theory) to the members profile page, but it defaults no any potential posts that they wrote or a not found page, neither of which I want. I’ve been through all the settings and I can’t find anything.

How do I fix this please? Please note I am NOT a coder, so all this php stuff means nothing to me (sorry!). I am hoping that there is a simple button that I didn’t know to activate or press. Please let me know what newbie mistake I am making.

Hi Soraya,

Thank you very much for the details. Can you please link me to a correct result page of a user? The results URL is requested from WordPress, but the user plugin that you have might use a different scheme. If I can see a correct URL, then I should be able to configure the plugin correctly.

Thanks so much. Its currently defaulting to http://www.startuprichmond.com/author/nameofuser

I need it to default to http://www.startuprichmond.com/profile/nameofuser.

Also, I want to set up other search bars. For instance, one that just searches a training section and another that just searches posts and comments and another that does forum searches only. Will the url need to be changed for each one of these?

Hi,

Thank you very much, luckily this is very easily resolvable.

I have changed the following options under the General Options -> Users search panel: https://i.imgur.com/27kRjz2.png
That’s it. You only need to change this on search instances, where the user search is enabled.

Hi,

Thanks for that. But it didn’t work. It is now defaulting to
https://startuprichmond.com/directory/profile/nameofuser
instead of
http://www.startuprichmond.com/profile/nameofuser
Its put directory in front of the url. Any other suggestions?

Indeed, it was not working properly due to a yet unknown bug.

I have corrected the issue via FTP within the plugin files. I will make sure to include this fix in the upcoming plugin releas, so you don’t have to worry about it anymore 🙂
