Bought your plugin today because it said you can search pdf’s. Client has products and a visible pdf with all the part numbers
Using the link above, if I type in any of the part numbers – example: PHG-FG07.50 – it says no results found.
It does provide the right results, but I do not want it to say no results found
I have read the documentation here: https://documentation.ajaxsearchpro.com/general-settings/search-in-attachment-contents-pdf-word-excel-etc..But I am clearly missing something.
Could you kindly help?
Thanks in advanceNovember 21, 2018 at 12:27 pm #20026Ernest Marcinko
KeymasterHi!
Thank you very much for the details, it helps me a lot.
I have found one misconfiguration, that the Index Table engine was not selected for the media attachment search, I have corrected that here: https://i.imgur.com/yMcT06q.png
Still I am not quite getting results for the string “PHG-FG07.50”, but I do get the correct ones for searching partials of this string together “PHP FG07 50”. My guess is, that there might be a difference inbetween how this word looks and how it’s processed (maybe there is some sort of gibberish or empty strings between them etc..), otherwise this should be indexed as a single keyword as well. Can you please add temporary FTP details? I would like to degug the index process, to see what the PDF parser was able to extract from the PDF texts. I believe the information is there, but for some reason it is not indexed correctly.

KeymasterHi,
Yes, if I make any change, I will let you know for sure.
Can you check the SFTP details please? I am getting the following error message: ‘Password authentication denied’
Make sure to check, that no keyfile is required for the authentication.November 21, 2018 at 3:27 pm #20041Reema
ParticipantErnest – I cannot resolve this. I will talk to WP Engine and get back to you as soon as I can

KeymasterHi!
Actually, that is way better and much faster (in terms of search) approach in my opinion, as returning the product, based on the PDF content is not possible (because those are two separate post type objects, not one). PDF content indexing would only be able to return the PDF files (or parent pages attached to it) as results.
The plugin will index the additional search tags field, and it should work as you expect it. I can recommend this solution. -
