Simple question about exporting forms

We are working on custom search forms for two sub sites in our main website. We prefer to develop offline or on a stage server before pushing the plugin and forms into our production environment. We did not see an option to export the forms so they could then be imported into the production site. Nothing in the documentation or KB that we can find. Sorry if this is evident and we just missed it. Love the plugin, thanks for the help.

Hi Mark,

The exporting/importing functionality is indeed not documented yet. It is basically a back-up service. Export -> Import should be used within the same domain/subdomain. Mixing instances within separate installations may not work, due to the differences in some object IDs (posts, taxonomies etc..).

If the offline site is an identical copy (base URL, posts, categories, users etc..) of the production, then it should work. If not, then probably replicating the settings manually is a better idea. If you have a specific theme/coloring setup, you can export that individually as well, that works regardless of the installation differences: https://i.imgur.com/noRHz4Q.png

Thanks for the details on this. While we are working from a cloned version of the website on the local install, I can see where there could be complications with some of the object IDs if we try to go back and forth. I am going to do some testing for the possible export/import of styles and themes and see what will work best for us. We should be able to develop on the production server with no impact on anything outside of the subsites we’ll be focusing on with this plugin.

We can close this ticket for now and if we come across anything else of concern for this we’ll reopen or open a new one.
