It could work if the permalink is different. The issue here is the “/search/phrase” permalink itself, I suspect there is either a rule in the .htaccess file or a custom code snippet to resolve “/search/phrase” to “?search=phrase”.
These things may happen here and there unfortunately as the Rest API is fairly new feature.

I have found and patched the issue, it was caused by a single character typo in the code, and it went undetected during tests. I have already made a global fix as well, it will be included in the upcoming release.
After sorting an root element is missing from the elementor container. See before sorting and after sorting.
