    Hello Team,
Greetings to you. I am working on a multivendor pathology center website. I am using Geo My WP for identifying Geo current location of my users and registered vendors. Geo my WP also adds location to each post/product. I also have a category of City each product is tagged with.

I am using ASP for search and filter. In a typical scenario I have my vendors spread across 2 cities (say New Delhi and Kolkata). So when a user from any city (say New Delhi) opens site and searches in ASP search bar she should see results only from that city post/ product. This should automatically pre-populate once current location of user is identified. One should not see post/product of another city. Please let me how can this be achieved. Your advice is appreciated.

    Many Thanks
    Sandy

    Hi Sandy,

Unfortunately this is not possible with this plugin, at least not yet. Geo-location related filters are in development, should be implemented later this year.

    Hi Ernest,

Thank you for your prompt response. I will be waiting eagerly for Geo filters with ASP to be released.

For the time being as a workaround, if I create city names as category and I want this category to be dynamically selected on the run based on value from a pop-up form on page load, is this possible?

    Many thanks
    Sandy

    Hi,

Well, that could be possible, but definitely requires custom coding to select the category value within the box. Possibly a javascript event trigger in the pop-up to change the value in condition to the selection.

    Hi Ernest,

Thank You. Your insight is much appreciated.

I did some progress by creating a custom taxonomy and used ASP frontend search settings shortcode to show this custom taxonomy to users with elementor pop-up on page load. Please see the screenshot: https://ibb.co/7kDcdqt . Now once I select an option and close the popup it does not reflect on the ASP search bar. Also it fails to retain search settings on page reload.

Please visit my website to get a clear picture. I hope to get your attention soon. Have a good one.

    Many thanks
    Sandy

    Hi,

The settings will not retain on page load, as it is not an expected behavior (and it would also create certain conflicts).
You might also want to check this option, if you don’t want to include any results, that does not have the given taxonomy assigned.

    Hi Ernest,
Thank you, it did solve 50% of my issues. You are awesome. For understanding the other part of issue please see this screenshot :

    Launch URL : http://www.pathologybazaar.in

    Step 1 : https://ibb.co/Y7gFnJ6
    Step 2: https://ibb.co/QMD9rkX

In step 1 I selected a custom taxonomy from filter shortcode and closed popup (page does not reload) . In step 2 I clicked to see search on header but filter settings not retained.

    Many thanks
    Sandy.

    Hi Sandy,

It looks all right to me at the moment.

The issue is, that if you have two different search instances, then changing the settings on one, will not change the settings on the other one – as they are separate search bars. You probably had a different search bar in the header, and a different search settings shortcode in the pop-up.

    Hi Ernest,

I am afraid to say so but I did check and rechecked and found that both settings on popup and theme header search point to same instance of ASP.

I checked shortcode on popup here: https://ibb.co/xFXgyvR
on the ASP main page: https://ibb.co/ChSV5cj
and on the Custom Settings position shortcode here: https://ibb.co/QXjPQRM
    both point to same instance.

    Many thanks

    Hi Ernest,

Adding to my comments above I continued my testing today and figured out that 2 instances of same search bar on the same page is creating issues. On home page I have a popup that shows settings of one instance and another instance as the search header of same search bar, I find on page load the settings is populated correctly on popup but the header search detaches the setting to be never shown again there. But when on a page there is only one instance of ASP ( example on header) running it shows perfectly with settings intact.

I am not sure why this is happening and how this can be fixed. Please help.

    Many thanks
    Sandy

    Hi Sandy,

That is the expected behaviour with one instance. The settings shortcode moves the search settings for the given search instance. In your case the settings was moved to the pop-up content. Since the pop-up is not visible after closing, the settings are not visible either.

I tried to test two instances to see what exactly happens, but I am getting the following error when visiting your site: https://i.imgur.com/HTaRRUp.png

    Thank you.

Could you please make perhaps a sample page with a problematic setup? I really don’t want to make direct changes to your site design, in case I mess up something 🙂
