I’m trying to get images for my easy digital downloads to appear in search.
I tried changing the settings for the images tab, one by one.
I tried changing the order.
I tried activiating and deactivating shortcodes.
I’ve looked at the documentation and tried searching forums.
I noticed advice to check that folders css, cache and thumb were available in my file manager. I could only see css. I activated caching to see if that would help.I don’t have featured images enabled for my downloads because it defaults to duplicate images on my pages. I just want ajax search pro to find the images on those pages.
I haven’t disabled plugins or changed themes as yet because I’m working on my site at the moment and didn’t want to interfere.
I’m not sure how to check for error messages.
March 8, 2019 at 4:45 pm #21521Hi!
Thank you for the details, I have conducted a few test searches, but I’m seeing images within the results:
– Test 1: https://i.imgur.com/XLmo9xf.png
– Test 2: https://i.imgur.com/XurdCge.pngThe images are within the downloads text content, and it seems to be correctly displayed within the results list as well. I also checked your configuration, and it seems to be okay.
Best,
Is the issue something else? Or has it been resolved in the meantime? Thank you!

March 9, 2019 at 12:07 pm #21536Hi Ernest,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, you’re right. There are images for the download files. I thought there wasn’t because the first search result is usually without an image but it is a link to my download file, not the page itself.
I think my problem is something different in that case. I’m having trouble configuring the plugin so that the top results in my searches are for the download pages and the resources pages. For example, if I search for ‘Monkey Puzzle’, I want the top results to be for the Monkey Puzzle resource page:
https://kidsclubenglish.com/stories/monkey-puzzle-2/
and the Monkey Puzzle Activity Pack:
https://kidsclubenglish.com/downloads/monkey-puzzle-activity-pack-worksheets-crafts-games-flashcards/
but the 1st result is an imageless link to the activity pack page and there isn’t a result for the Monkey Puzzle Activity Pack page.I’ve tried different settings on the ordering tab but I can’t seem to get my digital download product pages to appear 1st or 2nd in the results.
Any advice is much appreciated.
March 11, 2019 at 10:58 am #21552Hi!
Okay, I think I understand better now. I hope you don’t mind, but I have made the following adjustments to the search, based on your requirements:
1. I have disabled both categories and attachments as results, since the downloads are a separate post type, and I believe you don’t really want the categories as results. You can still re-enable these, I am just guessing.
2. I turned off the post type ordering logic, since in the example case the first result is a post and the second is a download post type, so it will hurt the relevance matching.
3. I also switched the search logic like so: https://i.imgur.com/yks7U2V.png
This will give more strict matches first, then less strict will follow.4. I also turned off polylang compatibility, as I don’t see translations for the downloads yet. In that case, it is possible, that some elements might not be properly assigned to languages, and can be excluded: https://i.imgur.com/hA0pYDG.png
Once you got all the translations ready, you can turn it on again. Now, doing a test search for ‘Monkey Puzzle’ does return much more relevant matches, and it even returns the first two results as you expected: https://i.imgur.com/3iJyRIv.png
I hope this helps!

March 12, 2019 at 6:23 pm #21585Thanks Ernest!
That’s fantastic. Exactly how I wanted it. Thank you!
The only thing I’d like to work on is trying to speed up the search but I’m sure there is something about that in your knowledge base so I’ll have a look. It might be an issue with my pages being a bit slow to load maybe.
Thank you for your prompt and excellent help.
