The only explanation is if the configuration was changed in the meantime. The behaviour can’t change on it’s own, that is not possible.
Usually the reason for these strange behaviours is a layer of cache somewhere. It is possible that your CDN, browser or other cache stored a previous output on some page and it got messed up. Then after refreshing and saving the configuration it may have been cleared and it does not appear anymore.

I tried to log-in and check, but neither the login or the plugin is visible on the page.
Usually I recommend going through this checklist if this error comes up. The error 400 is very rare response from the server, but usually indicates an issue with the firewall. The server does not like the request and might be blocking it.
I recommend checking on the firewall to see what it captured, as it may cause some problems in the future for something else as well.Make sure to clear the site cache if it’s different from the front-end and the back-end, that will cause that.
I’m afraid external APIs are not possible to use. I suggest fetching and storing that data locally (in a post type for example), and that will make it available for search plugins including ours.

I did a quick debugging session, I think I found the culprit. It was the combination of elementor shop/products and a lost query argument. I have added a few lines to detect the variations and push it properly to the arguments list. It should be okay now.
I have also opened an issue on the public issue tracker and will resolve it soon so this change is reflected in the upcoming update.
